frequently asked questions (and the answers)!
a selection of your most frequently asked questions and of course, our answers!
- how can i pay for my trip? (by bank cheque/personal cheque/money order/electronic transfer/credit card). are there any credit card surcharges? (credit card payments attract a surcharge of varying percentages depending on the brand and typ of credit card - contact us for exact details).
- what are your bank account details? (our bank is the nab. the account name is merlin travel service pty ltd, the bsb is 083004, and the account number is 049790568).
- do you issue receipts? (as per normal business practice, we only issue receipts for cash payments; nevertheless, we will issue receipts for any method of payment if requested. we can also issue tax invoices).
- how do i receive my travel documents? (we can post these to you by express post or courier if time is tight or we can email certain documents, and of course you are always welcome to come to our office and pick them up. we can also arrange personal delivery under certain circumstances).
- do you have any booking fees? (we charge a booking fee only in certain circumstances, ie, if we book travel for you via an internet only medium such as jetstar or virginblue airlines).
- how is my money guarded? (we are a member of the australian federation of travel agents and as such your money is protected via the afta travel compensation fund).
- what airlines do you deal with? (we deal with every iata approved airline, currently 230 airlines in over 120 countries from around the globe. carrying 93% of the world’s international scheduled traffic, iata members include the world’s leading passenger and cargo airlines.)
- why should i travel with merlin travel and not some other travel agency? (we have been in the industry for over twenty five years so we know travel from all angles. most of our clientele are repeat customers and most of our first time customers have been referred by our satisfied travellers.)
- hasn't the internet made travel agents redundant? (we believe that the internet has helped travel in many ways, ie, research information is a lot more accessible now. however, the internet is largely impersonal and as has been shown, prone to scams and mis-information. a lot of travel arrangements made over the internet can only be altered or cancelled or enquiried upon via the internet.) click here to download a recent melbourne age article.
